About Udaipur
Rajasthan is the undisputed hotspot for foreign tourists. Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, and Badhmer attract a large number of tourists every year. Rajasthan is very big, and there are palaces and forts everywhere! But if I had to recommend a short trip to experience the entire state, I would recommend Udaipur. This is my Udaipur travel blog about Rajasthan’s most gorgeous city. This city, also referred to as the “City of Lakes,” is rooted in its history and architecture.
Udaipur has a special place in my heart, as I spent the early days of my career there. You don’t understand the nostalgia until you go there for 3 days in the winter of January.
Udaipur Trip: Best Time to Visit
In general, it is best to visit Rajasthan from autumn to spring. Never, ever plan a trip during peak summer (April-June) as it is a desert and we are not Bedouins.
How to reach Udaipur?
Flying is the most convenient way, although trains and flights are also good.
Reach Udaipur by train: Udaipur City Railway Station connects to all major cities of India.
Reach Udaipur by flight: Maharana Pratap Airport serves both domestic and international flights.
Taxis are available everywhere for intercity travel. There is also a city bus that runs for tourists.

Zanana Mahal: The Queen’s quarters are located within the City Palace’s renowned blue interior. The rooms, which have been restored and embellished to their former splendour, have elaborate alcoves, colourful frescoes, and elaborate balconies.
Bada Mahal Udaipur: The highest point of the City Palace complex, the Garden Palace was used for royal banquets on special occasions such as Diwali and Holi. Built in 1699, its main feature is the 104 intricately carved pillars by local artisans, and it is the best Udaipur place to visit.
Moti Mahal: The ‘Palace of Pearls’, Moti Mahal, is surrounded by mirrored walls and stained glass windows, creating amazing reflections and the ultimate Instagram playground.
Mor Chowk: The most magnificent, ornate, and colorful of the courtyards of the City Palace, Mor Chowk is the best Udaipur place to visit, and it is decorated with carvings of five peacocks and glass. To create the artwork, an astounding 5,000 mosaic tile pieces were employed.
Things to Do in Udaipur Trip
Visit the City Palace: Built by Maharana Udai Singh, this palace is also counted among the best Udaipur tourist places. The grand City Palace overlooks Lake Pichola and houses the world’s largest private crystal collection. The entry fee is Rs 40-50 per person. If you want to watch the light and sound show from 7-8 pm in the evening, you will have to spend Rs 150 more.
Watch a Puppet Show: Traditional puppet shows are a must-watch. See one at the Indian Folk Art Museum. The ticket range starts at Rs 30-40 per person.
Take a boat ride to Jag Mandir Palace: This hour-long boat ride starts from the ghat near the City Palace and offers spectacular views of the ghats along the lake. The boat ride costs Rs 300 per adult, and the sunset boat ride costs Rs 500.
Old City Cycle Tour: You can take a tour of the old city and interact with the locals to know more about this city of palaces.
Trek Your Way: Yes! It also offers some trekking trails. Start at around 7 am in the morning from Morvanya village and trek through the amazing landscapes of the forest and valley while viewing the diverse flora and fauna.
Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary: If you are a wildlife enthusiast, then you must visit Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, which houses a wide range of animals like sloth bears, jungle cats, jackals, wolves, and hyenas. Jeep safari is available for a one-day tour of this sanctuary, and it is counted among the best places near Udaipur.
Shopping: Like Jaipur, Udaipur is also a shopper’s paradise! Try Hathi Pol Bazaar for miniature Rajasthani paintings, silver jewelry, and printed clothes. Don’t forget to buy Bandhani sarees and embroidered mojaris, which are Rajasthani delicacies. Bada Bazaar, Palace Road, and Chetak Circle are additional marketplaces that provide top-notch Mewar goods and art. Don’t forget to bargain!
